How to Set Up Utah MVRs

Utah requires each client to create and approve their own Utah.gov business account before any motor vehicle records can be run. Follow these steps, then send PSBI your org ID.

Last updated August 4, 2026

Utah is the one state where you complete the setup yourself. You create your own Utah.gov business account, get it approved by the state, and then authorize SambaSafety and PreSearch against it. PSBI cannot do any of this on your behalf, and no Utah MVR can be run until setup is finished.

Budget about five business days for state approval. Start this well before you need your first Utah MVR — it is the step that most often delays go-live.

For general MVR product details and state fees, see Motor Vehicle Records (MVR).

What you need to do

1. Create and verify a Utah.gov account

Go to Utah.gov Account Management, create an account, and confirm the email to activate it.

2. Complete the business profile

Log in at secure.utah.gov/dhr and fill in the Business Profile page: FEIN, company name, organization type, address, and phone.

Organization type matters:

  • Motor Carrier — if you need commercial MVR reports
  • Employer — otherwise

Choosing the wrong type can limit what records you are allowed to pull.

3. Accept the terms and wait for approval

Check the terms boxes and select Continue. Utah emails you when the business is approved, typically within five business days. If approval takes longer, contact support@helpdesk.utah.gov — PSBI cannot chase state approval for you because the account is yours, not ours.

4. Add the vendor relationships (after approval only)

After you are approved, return to your Utah.gov Business Profile, select Add Relationship, and enter:

Field Value
Vendor ID (SambaSafety) TJ0GINEBJC
Sub-vendor ID (PreSearch) J1ARA9WLOA

PreSearch is added as a sub-vendor of the SambaSafety relationship, not as a second standalone vendor. Then Save Relationship.

What to send PSBI

Your Utah.gov org ID. Setup is not complete without it — it is the identifier that ties your state account to orders placed through PSBI.

Find it by hovering over the Org info tab in your Utah.gov account, then send it to your PSBI contact or support.

Ongoing renewal

The Utah terms must be renewed annually. Utah alerts the account holder when renewal is due; you log in and re-accept. If Utah MVRs stop working after a long period of successful pulls, lapsed terms are the first thing to check — the reminder goes to your Utah.gov account holder, not to PSBI.

Need a Utah MVR before setup is finished?

Every organization that runs Utah MVRs needs its own Utah.gov account and org ID. There is no shared or company-wide arrangement that covers multiple clients.

If you need a Utah MVR before your account is approved, open a support ticket rather than ordering it in the platform — identifiers can sometimes be handled manually in the interim.
